Hi all
Just thought I would let you know that we have been in discussion with the Department Work & Pensions/Job Cente Plus who inform us that they are bringing in new Assessment officers for Mental Health and Drug/Alchol Abuse.
Anyone declaring they have ADHD will no longer have to sit explaining themselves in front of a queue of others. They will be seen by the Disability Officers.
Any other info I can get I will post on here.

Thanks Honey! I'm definitely looking forward to hearing more about this and thanks for all your hard work in this very important area Will the assessment officers receive some sort of training in ADHD, and will they be networking with the NHS ADHD clinics so that people can be referred seamlessly from clinics to the Disability Officers? Or will all that come later? And if you need any help or input please let us know

Hi Roland
I and other groups (ADHD) have been working on this area and a training video was launched about 2 years ago but the recognised ADHD groups (through the lead group) will be the contact and deliver the training within their areas.
I am meeting with the DWP Partnership Manager in the not too distant future and the Psychologist (OT) in the next couple of weeks in which to move things forward.
The other good news is that my ADHD booklet I have put together is being proof read and then off to printers to be mass produced through and educational grant and we have been given the go ahead from our ADHD Strategy Group in which to hold a 'Learning Event' for professionals on ADHD, again we will be involving the DWP and other services who play a vital role in supporting those with ADHD and their families/carers.
Will keep you well updated as to how things progress and will give you a shout if we need you if that is ok?
Many thanks
Honey x
