i saw a programme about steiner schools, i remeber thinking it would have suited me a lot better than main stream/private boarding schooling
there way of teaching seems a lot more natural than main stream veiw
and i belive they get good results, though id look into that

Hi Laura
I know of several ADHD kids who have gone to a Steiner school and some still at one, the feedback from parents has always been good and I have seen vast improvements in the youngsters.
One parent who has a son still at a Steiner (West Sussex) used to run an ADHD Support Group would have been the first to remove her son if it was not the right one for him----she took her local council to court in which to get the placement funded.
Go visit one first without your son, see what you think and what they have to offer, then if you like what you see, take your son along in another visit----Reiner are pretty good at understanding parents concerns and open to such visits.
Good luck, hope all goes as planned.
Honey x

Hi Laura The mum involved in the High Court hearing won her case against local council in which to fully fund the placement under the child's statement for Special Educational Needs. Have you requested that your son be assessed for Special Educational Needs by your education authority? If not this may have to be your first port of call in which to at least get the placement funded. Write to the school requesting he be assessed for SEN and copy in your LEA, if they refuse you can Appeal through SENDIST (Special Educational Needs Disability Tribunal Services) and if you need to take matters further re legal, drop me a line as I have the contact details of a super solicitor who can access legal funding to take the case on against the LEA. There is a website called EDUSEN with some very useful information. www.educationbulletin.co.uk The solicitor I mention is available through this site as he designed and was involved in putting it together. Good luck Honey x

Hi there, i would love to send two of my children to a Steiner School, but the costs have become rediculous! I have add, one of my 4 children is diagnosed adhd, & my son, has Dyslexia. Both of these children would very much benefit, being very artistic & practical children from the education offered there. Sadly the School i considered (Hamshire) has really changed its fee system over the last 10 years, it would be about £9K p/a to send them now.(not very Steiner)
