Not sure if you've already done this roland or anybody else. In Feb I went to a consultation event led by Prof. Appleby Dept of Health. It was centred around what mental health services should look like over the next 10 yrs ( this year will see the end of the National service Framework for MH and the developing one is called New Horizons). I must say my ears pricked up when he mentioned "the emerging understanding about Adhd, particularly in adulthood"!! He and his team have been going round the country consulting with all and sundry and the consultation stage is now coming to an end - 15th Oct. However, until that date, the website does allow you to make your views known by answering an on line questionnaire. I think it's a good idea if as many of us can make a response. At the end roland it does ask for details of any organisations and this most definitely would be a good opportunity to raise awareness of AADD-UK. I'm not good at links as most of you will have noticed, however I'm sure someone will come along with a better one!! It's worth reading the Consultation doc especially about Transition and Adult mental health. The link is www.dh.gov.uk/mentalhealthannie

Okay Guys, I just submitted the response to this consultation on behalf of AADD-UK, and I gave as examples the lack of provisions for adult ADHD in my reply to just about every single question! I used the online questionnaire, but it didn't have an option for saving my answers after I'd submitted them, so unfortunately I haven't got a copy of them to post on here. But I did it and I did it before the deadline of 15 October. So if anybody else want to do it here is the link: www.dh.gov.uk/en/Consultations/Liveconsultations/DH_103144You don't have to be elaborate, just give your own thoughts and experiences.

Quangos (NDPB) rule. There is always money to be made from "collecting" opinions and "presenting" them in readable, archivable formats. ie........money money money...
That's where all the money goes...........If the Department of Health was say, 5 buildings countrywide, with 5,000 staff........cool.....but instead it is a MAJOR quango that works with 40 quangos, advisory and executive. I would love to know how much of the money for mental health concerns goes to "project creation development" and other "nest feathering" techniques.
Am I being cynical and non-constructive.....yes. I have not even bothered to reply to the questionnaire.
