What gets me is when you try to explain it and people say "o everyone does that" makes me feel like a fony and Im not that good with words and just feel a bit stumped. it annoys me so much when people say that, when im angry im even worse with words. i try to explain that we are all on a sliding scale and altough everyone does these things they are probly at the bottom of the scale i.e happens occasionally and does have a major impact on their life. and people with ad/hd are somewhere near the top of the scale i.e happens constantly all the time and always has done and seriously affects my life. i say this with lots of hand gestures so they can usually get what im trying to say ;D Red lmao ;D

i do the hand gestures laura, in my younger days i was likened to magnus pike (a bit before your time lol) who was a science bod who presented on tv, always using lots and lots of hand gestures and then there was one place i worked where my boss told me he was gonna make me sit on my hands while i spoke to see if i was still able to communicate, he said he doubted it very much i think the whole thing about 'oh everyone does that' is something that does make alot of us feel like frauds safe, i know i doubted myself alot even after dx, actually maybe especially after dx, i would look round and see others that DID seem to do the same or similar things and i felt like such a complete loser, but laura is right, its the sliding scale, yes everybody does do it and everybody does forget an appointment or a birthday, or to pay a bill, or loses their keys, or gets bored of a project part way through but do they do it day in day out, for a lifetime, no matter how hard they try not to, no matter how awful / rubbish / useless it makes them feel

What to Say When They Say, "You Don't Have ADHD!"
Really, I didn't know you were a Consultant Psychiatrist, well done on passing all those hard exams. ;D
