Hi all,
I posted yesterday as a guest but have since joined the forum so thought I'd re-post as I got no replies to the guest post.
Two and a half years ago we began fostering a new born baby who is still with us and now we're in the process of adopting her. The child is 100 MPH every waking hour, she is quite literally a whirling dervish so I began to look into the possibility of her having ADHD. Now I knew absolutely nothing about this condition and even my assumptions were utterly incorrect but to my surprise the more I read up on it the more I could identify traits within myself.
I continued to research the condition with increasing alarm at the comparisons I shared, I came across a World Health Organisation test for the condition for which I scored 4 and 7 respectively, with advice from the website to contact a health professional. On Friday I visited my GP who discussed my concerns almost forensically she then conducted a similar test but this time the outcome was 7 and 7, she then went on to refer me to a specialist but advised this could take as long as two years to happen.
I'm sure you can all imagine and empathise my frustrations I'm desperate for answers but have no way of finding out, I can't afford to go private but I need to know if I'm living with this condition which would answer a lot of questions I have relating to my personal and professional life. Can any of you provide me with help or guidance, maybe there's a professional body I could speak to that could help. Any help would be massively appreciated.
