Hmm.... might have chosen the completely wrong time... but I joined this group a couple of weeks ago when finally accepting (not in a bad way, but I've never coped well with a label) that I'm showing multiple symptoms of someone with ADHD. Anyway, posting now as feeling a little lost as just opened up to my Fiancé as to my top 3 reasons why I feel I might have it, and I had no response, he started to fall asleep! Granted he's had a bit to drink but suppose it took alot for me to say it out loud, and that's why I'm posting here...

His response is farly typical. A lot of people don't take ADHD seriously. When I gave my mother a leaflet on it she threw it in the bin.

Hi, I’ve always suspected I was a strong candidate for adhd as a child & now in my 40’s, after work issues, relationship issues, self medication issues, I’ve begun to believe that they followed me into adulthood. Like you, I’ve been talking to friends & family & can’t believe how dismissive everyone has been (including a sibling GP!) it’s such a misunderstood condition & from what I can tell effects lots of people differently. Part of the problem is that A. It’s just kind of normal to us & only really gets focused when looking through the lens of how others cope & live. & importantly B. We mask, we mask so well in fact that not only do those closest to us miss the signs but we also convince ourselves. I recently took a different tack & asked (after telling them what I actually do dat-to-day) ‘do you think that’s normal? They pause before answering this time.
