Hi Guys,
I've just learnt that the Bristol Clinic is not only temporarily closed (I'm trying to get the exact dates) but also because it's been closed for some time due to illness, lack of proper cover (all due to totally inadequate funding), and sewage flooding, some people have now run out of their medications.
If you are in this fix, and need help accessing meds and information, please contact me asap for help to get it sorted.

How the hell can this actually be happening?
Is it not illegal to cause torture to people?
By withholding or not prescribing a drug that the person needs or functions better with, it is gross neglect. Sneakily shutting down a centre is just oh........
Can you imagine. "oh, you can't have your diabetes drug" or schizophrenia medication etc.
How wrong. .........................

Couldn't agree with you more Andy, and btw, welcome back!! They have now come to an awareness of their mistake and have appointed a doctor to temporarily fill in and the clinic should be opening back up on Monday, 30th November. Amazing how solutions suddenly appear when we start asserting our rights

Hi simone,
I'm sorry I missed your post. Dr Bolea isn't back yet, but AWP has found a locum to fill in for the next few weeks. So far the news is that they are going to be honouring their appointments, but if you like you can pm your number and if I hear anything different, I'll let you know, or vice versa. I can help stir them up if there is a hitch with your appointment.

Hi all
Just back off holidays and trying to catch up on e-mails & posts on here. Re Bristol Clinic locum, I am aware as to who this is and she is super!!!
Her knowledge, skills and understanding of ADHD is great and is an international speaker on the subject plus has done a lot of research, so I wouldn't be worried!
Hope all appointments go well folks.
Honey x

Simone talk to me before appoinment and write down what you want to say and give the specialist this if nesscary, rather that be scared. He is no one special he goes about his daily life and has a job to do like everyone else. If you feel the meds arent working say so he can only go on what you say. Ill be thinking of you, ive my appointment Wednesday. Keep in touch it will work out meggies crystal ball says it will. Hugs

Hi Honey,
I heard it was a "him" and that he's been working in Northern Ireland. Is this the same person?

Hi Roland
Doubt it at the person I know of is definately a 'she' and is working closely with Dr Bolea.
Will double check in the morning when I mail her and get back to you.

Okay mini-drama over, yes he's a man! Not going into it really coz i'll to struggle to be tactful. Couldn't change meds, only increased mine..Probably hasn't got the authority tbh..
No info on clinic closing, doesn't think thats in the pipeline. Dr Boleas off on leave,(not permenant), so possibly back New Yr! Don't think he appreciated his grilling!!

Hi Honey,
Simone's right and the locum is a man, and I've heard he's very nice.
I'm wondering if the doctor you mean is the one that is going to be working with people in transition from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult Mental Health Services. She mentioned to me that she knew you and you're right she's very nice!
Dr Bolea is on annual leave and will be back in the New Year, until then the locum, who by all accounts is very nice, will be taking the appointments.

I'm hopefully getting referred, is it best to see Dr Bolea initially?...I got the impression from someone that she is very good. The referral went to her anyway so we shall see!

yeah this closure actually completely fucked me because i wasnt able to get any medication when i had an essay deadline for my course. I had to seek other means of obtaining medication. Fortunately I have a sister who also has ADHD and have a relative who is a GP so I was able to get more. Be it by somewhat deceitful means, but it was still hassle. Grrr
