Hi to all. I have been diagnosed tith ADHD since July this year and was made redundant in August. (Nothing to do with the condition). I have found no work and have been looking for work intermitently. I have to stumbling blocks to getting an interview: 1) Age because I'm 57. 2) ADHD since I should inform any employer about my disability. Currently I'm on JSA and this week is my 13 week review so I have to show evidence of job seeking. When I first signed on I mentioned my condition which appeared to be ignored. My concern is that I might not be able to demonstrate enough evidence of seeking work and loose my JSA. Could I re-iterate my condition and ask for this to be taken into account? There are not many jobs out there and I believe that I would not qualify for Dissability Living Allowance until I find suitable employment. Any advice would be welcome. Best regrads. Mediaseller

At the interview make sure they are aware of the ADHD and ask to be referred to their DEA (disabilities employment advisor).
This will make your life easier since the DEAs are more sympathetic and less confrontational - you also get assistance.
Do not admit that you've not done much job searching, play what you have done to the hilt and make it quite plain you are trying in difficult personal circumstances.
If you feel your current medical condition is serious enough to convince a doctor that you're not fit for work then you could claim ESA instead (same money - effectively JSA long term sick).
Don't panic; if your condition precludes you from searching hard enough for them then you swap to ESA.
It's a PITA but your financial position will be identical.

You can claim dla and be in or out of work its not means tested i claim it. I would say you have adhd and ask to be referred to the diability employment advisor you may find emplyment quicker that way good luck.

Well it came and went without a hitch.
The interviewer was totally baffled when I took in a printout of ADHD symptoms ans forgot about the review, imediateley making an interview appointment with the DEA for next week.
Working on the princile of if you can't beat them then join them I asked him if they had any jobs working at the Jobcentre and he was totaly thrown.
