Hi,
As I start looking into the symptoms of ADHD and relating them to myself, one (probably trivial) thing keeps niggling me.
Personally my handwriting is all over the place, sloping this way that way, smaller/larger, etc - within the same sentence. I have always looked-on with a touch of envy when I see other people's neat, regular, consistent script.
Is this common for ADHD'ers?
It would seem to make sense that the confused mess inside my head would manifest itself this way.
Cheers, fuzz

i hold the pen too hard too and yep it hurts, my writing is terrible, sometimes i dont form letters properly or they merge togther, or have gaps inbetween words or ill start a word with the wrong letter etc i dont know if that is just my dylslexia or something else...
ive only just started reading things about ADHD because i didnt really know anything about it, until a friend said to me maybe i should see someone about it because she would 'almost put money on it' that i have it, so i dont really know if its related or not

If I take my time and try and concentrate I can write ok, but usually I dont, so it can be bad, it's like spiders writing as people have told me!

Is it the case that the more effort you put into "anything" the much harder it becomes?
Like trying to push two strong north pole magnets together.................
The nearer they get the, more destructive the effort.

Can't read my own writing unless take obscene amounts of time and effort to do it neat. Was assessed - am 'Dysgraphic'. Tis a form of dyslexia. The long I writing the more my hand cramps. If not concentrating, I don't write sentences left to right in order. I skip around. Same with individual words. Sometimes I find myself writing words.. and I'll put 'rite and then put the 'w' at the beginning last, for no apparent reason. Didn't realise that wasn't normal till was assessed! The educational pysch did a load of tests on me. Apparently my symbolic processing blah blah. Yep. Can't remember will look it up if anyone really wants to know. Basically the mesages don't get from my brain to my hand properly when I am writing.

Generally speaking my writing is appalling and I used to have people comment on it all the time when I was at school. At it's worst my writing is totally illegible to anyone including myself. I can write neatly if I really try but the trouble is that it takes me so long to do it.

My handwriting varies from day to day and is also affected by the style of pen and the width fo the writing tip.
For me, writing with a pen is too much like hard work and unless it is a list of single words then the brain just isn't interested... I think it is something to do with using a typewriter and then a PC, you can get your thoughts down much more quickly so a) you get out of practice and b) its just too tiring.

I'm ok, handwriting neat & i write very fast! Thats only in my opinion, may not be anyone else's?! Trouble is i dont write that much, only at work or letters for school? Forgot how to sign my name recently with using pin-numbers all the time! Looked like a right fraudster.

;D My life would be considerably different if pc's and typing and laser printers didn't exist lol. I'd hav been unemployable as well as trapped in some intellectual 'between' place. I can read two books in an evening quite comfortably. But I really can't write legibly often. : )
