My mum asked me something today and it got me wondering about the effects of steroid medication on behaviour.
Basically when I was 16 (and before I was aware that I was supect ADHD) I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease which I was prescribed oral corticosteroids for. Whilst I was on them my mum apparantely noticed that my behaviour changed and the typical symptoms of ADHD were a lot worse at that time. In particular she noticed that I was a lot more hyperactive.
She asked me today whether people with ADHD are more likely to have behaviour issues caused by steroid medication as my sister has taken them off and on for the past two years without any effect on her behaviour.
I didn't know the answer to her question myself so I thought I'd ask here.

Funny you should mention this, I thought I seemed worse since I've been on them too. I'm on Sustanon (Testosterone) which I inject every three weeks, and I thought I seemed worse over the past couple of years. I dont know what I'd be like without the hormones though, so I cant really say until I had a break to compare with just to be sure, but I'm not really likely to have a break either, lol.

Hmm, probably best not to have a break unless the doctor says so then. I was on oral prednisolone for just over a year which thankfully brought the Crohn's Disease into remission and when I stopped taking them I apparantely calmed down a little bit. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks they were worse on steriods.
