i'm almost 100% sure this isn't AD/HD related but thought i'd ask it here anyway. i'm 21 now but when i was a child and it continued until about mid teens, i still do it very occasionally now but not very often, i made a noise that i can only describe as a droning noise. i've always done it, there are videos of me doing it when i was a toddler. most of the time i wasn't aware i was doing it, which sounds weird and i can't quite get my head round it either but i'd only know i was doing it when someone pointed it out. i remember one time when i was 15/16 i was babysitting these kids and i was on their computer surfing the net and one of them came down saying he was woken up by a noise. it doesn't likea noise a 'normal' human would make you see so he didn't know it was me. i guess on some level i did know i was making it but then when i was told that i was, a lot of the time i'd say i wasn't and then they'd be like yeh you were i didn't make this noise at school, only at home i think. looking back, i think i did it when i was trying to concentrate on something. i think making the noise helped me concentrate. i've never really thought much about it, it was just me and something i did. the strange is though that the only person i've EVER heard make a similar noise is an autistic boy at a place i've just started working at. it wasn't that similar, wasn't exactly the same but he's the only person i've ever heard even make a noise a little bit like me. does anyone else know what it is? did anyone else here used to do it or know anyone else that did/does it?

I'm not a droner, but a rocker! Can be equally annoying to others! tend to rock while on puter or to get to sleep..Or watching tv..not an adder issue either, but we probably do these wierd things for comfort..Don't worry my sister has a wierd one too, she holds her chin with both hands & shakes when she gets excited or happy! sounds wierd, looks funny, but she started this at toddlerhood so theres no way she can stop now, too wired into her emotions now!
If its comforting, dont worry!

Hi Kelly,
I think on some level we need something in the background, noise or activity, especially when we concentrate.
I always have my finger between my teeth when watching TV and concentrating, often I am fidgety and restless too.
There are times I have made a monotonous 'drone' but only on rare occasions and quietly.
