HUGE credit goes to Jenny from ADDISS, for managing to keep her composure!!!
-i don't think i'd have been able to.
Contrary to what oliver james believes, it is widely held amongst experts, that ADHD has a genetic component,
This is from Prof Russell Barkley, (Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin);
"ADHD has very strong biological contributions to its occurrence. While precise causes have not yet been identified, there is little question that heredity/genetics makes the largest contribution to the expression of the disorder in the population. The heritability of ADHD averages approximately 80 percent, meaning that genetic factors account for 80 percent of the differences among individuals in this set of behavioral traits. For comparison, consider that this figure rivals that for the role of genetics in human height. Several genes associated with the disorder have been identified and undoubtedly more will be, given that ADHD represents a set of complex behavioral traits and so a single gene is unlikely to account for the disorder." He goes on to say; "Research has not supported popularly held views that ADHD arises from excessive sugar intake, food additives, excessive viewing of television, or poor child management by parents"
Thanks for the excellent link roland!... It shows that we're not the only people who think Oliver James is a wally!!!
-MM
p.s. i'm just gonna go call my mum, and tell her she didn't love me enough! ;D

as theres a genetic link to adhd what the evidence hes quoting from could quite as easily be theres twice the chance the mother to be suffering from anxity due to adhd trait running through the family than kids having twice the chance of having adhd due to a mother being stressed or suffering from anxiety
then he goes on about people being 3 times as likly to have adhd or low income well der! family trait of adhd is not a more likly to cause someone to fall into this position
and very well done jenny you did i great job. id have found it very hard to keep my cool and even harder to get my point over in such a concise way that guy was a biast arogrant moron trying to sound like he knew what he was on about

hey chrysallis, -i clicked on the link, then on "listen to this item" and the audio track opened automatically in RealPlayer. if you don't have RealPlayer already, you can download it for free from here; uk.real.com/realplayer but, if you have an old computer, be careful, because it can make things run a lot slower. i don't know too much about computers, so maybe someone who knows more can offer advice on how to get the audio file to play on the software you already have... -matt

This guy is a muppet. Im considering writing books now for a living because if that guy can get on the radio from writing uninformed claptrap then Im guaranteed my own show. I can spout crap all day, although most of it is at least informed
