44 and a lot
Always knew there was something up but ADHD hadn't been 'invented' when I was a nipper and only got interested when approx 41 when I was spotted by an ADHDer on another forum.
Can open. Worms all over the place.

I've just ticked past 49 and I'm in the machine in pursuit of a dx. Hoping to avoid the worms, though. Have also inserted my 10 yr old daughter into the machine in the hope that she, too, can avoid worm scenarios later.

I still have not had any documentation, but I have been told by my psychiatrist that according to him I have a diagnosis. So a few months ago, at the age of 35/36 is when I was "diagnosed"

Original diagnosis by general psych [Priory]mid 2008. Struggled with meds. Referred to NHS ADHD specialist early 2010: diagnosis confirmed and put on Methylphenidate (hard work, but 100 x better). Age: 55. I don't know about the first five (my sister says my parents always had a struggle dealing with me), but the next 50 years were a constant stream of f**k ups. Wouldn't wish it on anyone. Early diagnosis is vital, not so much in terms of practical achievement, but to avoid the emotional battering of a life time of running into walls. This makes me sound sorry for myself. I'm not, I'm probably happier now than I have ever been - I just get angry at the thought of others having to put up with all the shit.

Was 39 and before that I just thought I couldn't stand stupid people! Turns out now, with a little bit of help from meds, that there are a lot less dumb people in the world.

I am on meds, and I still can't stand stupid people ;D I have to agree with you though, meds do make dealing with them more bearable. John

I was 40, and diagnosed 3 and a bit weeks ago. Just gets me angry and sad, life does not have to be like the way it has been. Though I am lucky for the wife and children I have, so best to look for positives and forget the negatives. Looking forward to this potential new me on meds.

age 21... just last week, it took 13 months for the appointment caught it "early" in comparison to other people on here... probably why im little less bitter about having ADHD, its not had time to damage my life too much yet... theres always time though?

43:(. Opportunities were missed to diagnose me probably three times: 2-3 years ago, 10 years ago and 20 years ago. Doctors really need a kick up their collective arses on this.

41 I think, getting a DX has helped me a bit, meds are ok, but not changed me that much, they calm me down a bit thats all. I still go gaga every now and again and want to do a runner.

34. Diagnosed three weeks ago today. My school reports from about age 7 were screaming ADHD. Lots of lost years, but I wouldn't change them.

I turned 18 in 1979.....great music! <3 the music of the 70s and 80s. Quite jealous of the crap the younger generations have to put up with now

I new something was up when I was continually patted on the head and told "you are just different dear"...... usually after I would blurt out some interesting (i thought) insight or observation Also when I kept heard the word "underachiever" when my parents were talking with teachers. (love the "can open, worms all over the place"!)
