Just been to my (ADHD) daughter's parents' evening - and am SO proud of her! She's in year 10 now and has struggled a lot with her ADHD in the past - but since starting on methylphenidate and getting a bit of extra help (and understanding!) at school, she's come on leaps and bounds! I saw 5 teachers - and they all said she was wonderful! She tries hard, is on target, and is 'a delight to teach'! And they all said they loved her natural 'enthusiasm' and exuberance! I am chuffed to bits!!! Phoned her nan to tell her this - and nan was suitably proud and pleased too. Then I got the inevitable comment... shame I never had a report like that about YOU!!! All of them said you could have got all A's if you could have applied yourself! I politely pointed out that when I was Becky's age, nobody knew I had ADHD - and all I got was constant criticism! Mum's comment? "Humph! You just didn't WANT to work!" Aaargh!!!! Just what I DON'T need... another reminder of how different my life could have been, if I'd been diagnosed as a child! Still - at least Becky's life will be different. Hopefully!

Bless you Han ! Wish that had not happened to you ! Great news re your daughter though you must be very proud of her and be proud of yourself as she couldn't have done it without you ! In spite of the put downs and the criticism we keep moving forward ! Don't let the bastards grind you down ! Says more about them than you anyway !

You just didn't WANT to work!" Aaargh!!!! Sigh. Well, it's not easy to hear, but you know she's wrong, and you're doing the right thing with your baby, so hold on to that.
