My long term girlfriend lives in Canada where she has had a diagnosis for ADHD for the last 8 years or so. She currently takes Ritalin and Biphentin.
If we were to get married and she moved to the UK should I expect any difficulties in her being able to get these medications in the UK?

Hi Greyfriar I've not even heard of Biphentin so it's probably not available on the NHS. Ritalin (or generics) are available (we have Concerta which appears to be close to Biphentin). The problem that you'll probably find is that a GP won't prescribe these without the back-up of a psychiatrist and a foreign psychiatrist (ie not culpable to the UK authorities) is a risk. A private GP might be willing to take it on but I can't see an NHS one doing it. What I expect will happen is that the NHS will require your partner to get a UK diagnosis (private or NHS) so that an NHS GP can enter into a 'shared care agreement' with the psychiatrist and thus issue a prescription. Once your married your wife's nationality won't be an issue - IIRC there is a form that needs filling in and that's it.
