Hi
I am new on here but have a story to tell and hope some advice will be forthcoming. Even if it is only to point me in the right direction on this site it would be much appreciated.
We live in South Devon and for many years my daughter has had difficulties in various areas particularly those relating to schoolwork. She is now in her final year of her GCSE's and things are not going brilliantly. Over the years I feel guilty to say I have largely been pre-occupied in the role as 'breadwinner' but have become more and more worried about my daughter and in the past 2 to 3 years have been trying to find an ' explanation' to possibly giving us an answer with a view to supporting her as she moves towards adult life and independent living. All my observations, research and reading have left me convinced she suffers from ADD, the non- hyperactive form.
The deeper I have looked nto it the more convinced I have become that my partner also suffers from the condition as it explains so much about the way we and she live as it affects every waking minute of the day. I can only describe it as suddenly everything comes into focus and makes sense when behaviours have given rise to so much concern and anguish over the years.
I suppose I am hoping that there will be a support group in South Devon or the West country. If anyone can help that it will be brilliant and in the meantime I promise to check out the website more thoroughly.
You may have gathered I have been at the end of my tether for many many years now and it has had an increasingly negative effect on my health.
Thanks for reading
Barry
