does anyone else get bouts of excessive yawning. i dont mean the tired kind either.
when i have to listen to someone talk in an official environment such as school, college or a meeting; i start to yawn constantly. it usually starts after about 5 minutes and i can yawn up to 2 or 3 times a minute until they shut up or the situation changes.
anyone else have anything similar?

I get seemingly random bouts of excessive, uncontrollable yawning, which also cause my eyes to water.
Sometimes it can be triggered by certain events, such as trying to read my kids a bedtime story.

Yes!! I've searched and searched for a reason and have just learned I have ADD. I yawn when listening to others talk, even if I'm fairly interested in what they're saying. I often even yawn when I'm talking, and most especially when I'm reading out loud. It's a very embarrassing problem. I used to be a newspaper reporter, and I couldn't make it through interviews without yawning my head off. Now I work for a PR agency and my boss takes it personally if I start yawning while he talks, and it's a big problem when I'm in the middle of a client meeting. The yawns are sometimes so big that I feel like my mouth is opening to the size of my whole head. It makes my eyes water so much that it looks like I'm crying, and then my nose starts running. It's a truly miserable problem.

Well I have this too. I just tell people what my uni lecturer told me. Yawning is the brains way of drawing in more oxygen to make you more alert. You are actually trying to pay more attention!
Have no clue if it is true though!

My ADD husband often yawns when I'm talking to him, especially on the phone. Initiallly, I thought it was a way of covering up his procrastination, but I've realised he does it even when he's not required to answer. Good to know its a possible ADHD symptom rather than just plain rudeness!
