My wife has suggested I look for material that might help her - she is not really a forum type of person and would rather read about things in books or web pages. I am a member of the AADD forums, have a strong element of ADHD and (obviously) don't normally post to this particular forum.
My wife finds my disorganisation an jumping from task to task hard to handle. I tend to ask for things from her in a way that appears to be demanding instant attention.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hi random,
I couple of suggestions with regards books that your wife might find useful in helping her to understand a little more about how your wiring may effect things like not staying on task but doing the butterfly routine and your sense of urgency in having to strike while the iron is hot!
Scattered Minds: Hope and Help for Adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder by Lenard Adler
is a pretty concise read and describes many aspects well but from a practitioners point of view.
Delivered from Distraction: Getting the Most Out of Life with Attention Deficit Disorder by Edward M. Hallowell and John J. Ratey
is a good book which not only explains the challenges of ADD life but also has lots of useful strategies. It also has a chapter titled what you can do if your Mate has ADD which at the very least may give her a sense of solidarity with other partners of ADDers. This is also a good book in that it is written by two psychiatrists who themselves have ADD so there is some inside perspective there.
hope this helps!
best,
tom

Hi Tom Please have a look on our website which now has an online bookshop www.addiss-shop.comThere is a section on books for adults with ADHD. We have just added a new title "Is It You, Me, or Adult ADHD?" written by Gina Pera. It is an ideal book for partners. It is a newly published title but already has been highly acclaimed and endorsed by many top professionals. We should have copies in stock by the end of january. I am also trying to persuade the author to come to the UK to present a workshop at the ADDISS Conference in march.

Hi Random - by the time I write this your note has been read 233 times - must strike a cord!!! I am the wife of an, as yet, 'un-dx' guy (but we are pretty certain he has it). Complete empathy with how your wife feels - most of the individual articles listed above on the adders.org site really do make a lot of sense and will comfort her that things can get better (won't be an easy road but at least you acknowledge you are part of the problem).
She loves you lots but its tough......... hard for both of you to say sorry............ the sun is shining and its a lovely day ..........start again.
Good luck Mooney

Hi There I am new to forums and to dealing with a partner with ADD. Very much in love but finding it difficult to understand and deal with certain circumstances. This is an extremely useful website and has already helped me by realising how common this is and I'm not the only one by a long stretch. I am after some useful reading to help me understand and deal with situations with my partner. The suggestions are very much appreciated, going to give them a shot. I am very much in shock that Adult ADD is not recognised.
