i'm exhausted, achy & indecisive. after full on day i fell asleep with my laptop on my lap; woke at 7.30 but not yet moved. it's grey & raining but i don't want to waste the day faffing around online, so here's my attempt to get some structure into my day... then hopefully into my week Can't believe how much of the day it took me to work out i'm too tired to go out tomorrow and have too much work to do, when it took me two hours to write one email * 2nd meditation * get up* tidy up/light chores* wash & dress* yoga -i'm so stiff and sore i can't imagine breathing deeply or not being in pain * eat* plan rest of day - * reply to email re tomorrow - talk later when i've planned workload * play recorder for breaks/play music for focus ? * look at next week's deadlines and work out what needs to be done by when, what sort energy/focus it needs, where it needs to be done etc LEFT ME FEELING OVERWHELMED* plan the rest of this week - paced, balanced and structured! - cancelled day out -too tired, too much to do
planning: early night tonight, tomorrow is all the odds & ends, Weds-Fri is the stuff that needs sustained focus. every day an early night, early start, with some balance activities to make me feel more human/ less like a machine
x*find a play/creative thing to mark the bank holiday nature of the day & use it as reward * reply to other emails * tel mother 3rd time's the charm supper/shower/bed by 10pm - woop woop!
waddya know, i got most of the list done and got to bed early. well done Me

Write talk for tomorrow evening!!!
- open document on laptop
- type in all the notes made yesterday, with spaces to add in new stuff.
- print out
- begin writing in sections, starting with the easiest (probably conclusion? stuff that's already written)
- work on 15 mins on, 30 mins doing something else (or vice versa) until finished or bedtime
colour hair
shower
play recorder
prepare supper
evening chores
laundry - washing machine
plan tomorrow
this isn't going so well , esp with the writing. it all takes so much longer than i had thought, and friend rang then dropped round with helpful supplies, tho it took energy i already didn't have.
still feeling rubbish with abscess and really v tired. is it Really Mad to get hair coloured, get showered and get to bed asap? leaving all the writing until tomorrow morning? i might try and do the first 3 steps, depending how i feel after the shower. i'm scared about the deadline of tomorrow 4pm, and so much else to do. but can't make my body/brain better able to function by scaring it into submission, sleep might be more helpful.

Nope, but do put a dark towel over your pillow, to protect it from the wet hair dye! If you need anyone to cast an eye over anything, I'm here tomorrow morning. Genuine offer, but I totally understand if the offer horrifies you rather than comforts you. You will smash it, don't worry.

feeling rather roughafter a heavy week ... sad not to be on march today but feeling ill - sore throat, headache, feverish
want to have some sense of something rather than a lost day - so far been dozing/reading since 7am. starting Now!
get up make coffee
get washed & changed
chores
yoga
eat
plan rest of day by 4pm X
SO easy to get distracted, even with a clear list and total awareness.... i found myself planning projects, checking knitting patterns, downloading apps, clearing the junk on my phone. 1610 still not eaten today or worked out what i'm doing with the day!
need to get some writing done, but would like to have Total Chill. or make chutney. or knit. or listen to the radio. or pick tomatoes/blackberries. or all of those at once. that's the problem when you've had deadlines & been pushing yourself - once the immediately important is past it's really hard to work out what to do with yourself. my head has taken the day off without asking me!
get paper typed up & write note for tomorrow shower & hairwash get clothes ready remember other stuff - cash, knitting...? EARLY NIGHT early start NB road closures
plan tomorrow

v tired! need structured rest&recover/plan & prepare day start 1130-1300meditation (20) chores (15) wash & dress (15) yoga (20) eat (15) edit: running over two hours "late" already! some distraction, but more trying to get prescription meds sorted urgently & remotely, even tho i fall thru a gap in the system. plus being tired & slow, and not really appreciating how long things take, nor allowing time for the happenings of the day.1300-1600 brain list follow-ups from yesterday list of what's rattling in my brain tel chemist to order rx for collection tomorrow that took an hour & 3 calls -oops. list actions needed for projects i've listed the actions to B/F which will have to do paid invoice that i should have paid on friday
tidy study even made a plan to sort out 3 old laptops, one of which has been hanging for 7 years! go through folders on desk & pare down/organise/file papers write a plan for the week - what & when - so not overwhelmed practical make chutney before the home-ripened plums/apples go bad (break it into steps & intersperse with brain stuff) - research - assemble - prepare spices this breaking things down into steps is genius! i'm enjoying it more & have invented a spice blend - prep fruit -cook -prepare jars - fill & sterilise jars - clear up kitchen! knitting? or start sewing up hats fix the laundry that's been sitting half-done in the machine for 4 days! (2 cycles) fix the laundry that's been sitting half-dry around the house for 5 days (!!!)
1630 any urgent emails, planning ahead for tomorrow 1730 chores, load washing machine, supper prep 1830 shower 1900 supper, evening offX 2130 bed, with book!
plan for early start
EDIT OK it's 1730 and i've not made chutney yet. nor finished the list, but definitely made some progress and considering how hard i worked both weekend days, and indeed for the past 2 weeks around dental abscess & food poisoning & 4 events, it's not surprising it's taking so long!!! think i'll get the chutny prepped & on, then do chores & have shower, bottle it this evening. here goes...
Last edit: timings all out. and obviously i cant fit so much into a day, cos abouthalf not done! but definite sense of being a bit more organised, and have had a more balanced day rather than my usual driven/crash/driven/crash. verdict? not bad for an exhausted monday

3rd hour * answer emails in chunks, beginning with yesterday's leftovers* 4th hour catch up/continue with abovethat's all i flaming did today. not what i had thought at all. and it took for ever. and it's now 7pm already.
tho actually, i think i got distracted into answering emails on 4 other projects, rather than the one i had in mind. and got dragged into doing things at other people's pace/their priorities, rather than dealing with my own workload. NB LEARN FROM THIS!
and i spoke with my daughter, had a text convo with my brother, and an emal converation with a colleague who had particular needs. and chased up people who had not hit preivous deadlines. and covered for another colleague who's on holiday.
clearly my expectations were too huge, the workload is too great , and i'm not sure what any of that means. excpet than i need to stop now and have some time off/get to bed and sleep at proper time or i will go mad.

wiped out following months of overload, slumped after miraculously getting through events last weekend. need to start again even tho still spaced out, but small beginnings or i'll feel chaotic & miserable. SO exhausted - AND slumping / browsing online/reading books/eating junk/sleeping loads doesn't make me feel better. So... SATURDAY * meditation *chores & dress*yoga * eat* plan the day? tidy shelf in study? make chutney before ingredients go bad - it's in hand! amazingly!!!research knitted present for 5 year old* get clothes, bag etc ready for tomorrow - thinking i may not go out, but stay home & potter/ spend energy on catch up with self? * evening chores inc supper prep*shower, hairwash * get back into a routine ( inc early night & early morning) *bed by 10.30pm with book X maybe bed by 1130 with book x 1230 and i'm on my way to the shower!* get up at usual time, thus resetting body to winter schedule - or stay home, get up a little later than usual, thus enabling body to recover & have day of rest ? MONDAY ***plan ahead - break down big stuff into small stuff/make dents in overwhelm - prof, home, health, me - start planning to tackle all the follow-up/admin/action things hanging over my head KEYS - structured day - list , prioritise , schedule - keep a balance - plan ahead here i go go me -

i keep getting stuck! partly becos exhausted and now woken up with headache/achy etc, but partly becos i've had a big goal (and lots of small goals) for ages and now it's done - survived. lots of follow up which i'm too exhuasted/unmotivated to do. and meanwhile i need to get some structure. so here goes, again... meditation yoga choreswash & dresseatplan the pm - small practical catch up jobs answer emails evening chores inc supper prep supper shower & hairwash watch a filmearly night - it is back to "normal" tomorrow! X nopeit' all took much longer than i'd thought, and i'm scarily exhausted still got stuck watching the film, distracted into looking up an old friend online, then researching writing courses... two hours later, film half-watched, cold, uncomfortable and late to bed onwards & upwards
