Good stuff. I also try to sit ADHD kids with a supportive member of the class, someone who can help them keep focused on the task, and tell them nicely what they are meant to be doing. Some are better sat alone. Depending on the kid I generally sit them either at the front, near me, or right in the back corner so they feel safe in their corner of the room and the other kids have no reason to walk past them. I encourage them to tap their hands on their legs, not the table, because its quieter. I have no display work on the front wall of the classroom, so that they are not distracted when they should be looking at the board. I do lots and lots of activities with cards or cutting out questions and answers to match up, so that the hands are busy. I give them bitesized chunks of work during the lesson, because a whole lessons worth of work is overwhelming, and boring. I try to always tell them why we are learning this, and how people use it in different jobs.
If only I could keep up with marking and paperwork, I would be super teacher!!
