I have a hypothesis.
The statistical curve for intelligence in ADHDers does appear to have moved 'to the right' a bit.
I think ADHD causes intelligence, not the other way round.
My hypothesis - if you force the mind to work around its limitations then it becomes better equipped to tackle issues. In effect it's forcing the mind to get there by other means.
There is the chestnut of blind people having better hearing. They don't, it's just that they learn to use their hearing more effectively because they don't get 'cues' which sighted people do. It's a similar deal - ADHD takes some options away from you so you have to work with what you have. I said similar to the deaf/blind deal - they don't have better ears, which is where the analogy falls down. If your neural pathways are 'abnormal' then you will create different ones - it's physical, you can see on scans that ADHD brains are 'hot' in different areas - apparently this degree of flexibility is intelligence.
As the article points out - it's no use being intelligent if you can't do anything with it.
