Sky sent us a reminder letter today telling us that we owe them £19 for a first installment of a sky package we cancelled. We bought a Sky box deal from John Lewis where we could trial four Sky options for four months and then cancel before the end of the trial period if we didn't want to commit to a year of it. If we decided to go ahead then we would pay £19/month. We didn't watch enough of the Sky stuff so wrote a week before the end of the contract and cancelled. They cut off our viewing exactly at the end of the trial period. Proof they received the letter in good time I would have thought... Now theyre telling us we owe them £19 for the first payment and if we don't pay it they'll pass it on to a debt collection agency and it may affect our credit rating. If we owe them £19 for that first month then why did they cancel the package the moment the trial period ended. I am fed up holding on the phone for ages and being cut off by them before anyone answers when they transfer me and we're paying for the privilege of non-customer service. have written a letter going tomorrow by registered post. Customer service? only when they're signing you up.. My letter is v v polite but what I think of them isn't. Anyone else know how to get through to them??? Mouse

Obviously I'm an ADHDer just realised I could email customer service team so have sent letter by email to them and am posting registered as well.
I know this post is not scintillating or interesting but there were no other posts in here and I hate an empty room.

Hi Mouse, have you had any luck with this? If not, do what I do, e:mail Watchdog!
I can't cope with hanging on the end of the phone, I get angrier and angrier so by the time I eventually get to speak to someone I'm in a right mood and the poor person on the other end feels my wrath and we end up having a row etc etc and nothing gets resolved because they probably cut me off! (Hasn't had to happen for a while thank goodness!)

LOL PB!! I think I'm blacklisted in several call centres!!
I read somewhere that Sky has a habit of doing this.

Leon thanks for your post earlier because it reminded me that I needed to send off my letter to Sly by registered post. (thought I'd thanked you already). They only give you 14 days in which to reply, which is a bit rich when they can't even manage that themselves!
You find a lot of that sort of thing going on. In a former life, we had a huge rat problem at one of our sites. The EHO from the local council came along and told us that we had to get the problem sorted and gave us 21 days (I think it was) to get it sorted.
He also mentioned that we could pay the council to come and do the job. The boss asked how long it would take if they did it and he replied 'not less than 5 weeks', to which the boss said' in that case you should give me 5 weeks to get it sorted before you start talking about fines, etc'. Grudgingly the EHO agreed he couldn't argue with that logic and the boss went ahead and employed another company to do the job.
Speaking of golf balls I was going to put a large one on my nephew's cake but when I turned out the two hemi-spheres of cake they just looked like two rather slack - well manners dictate that I won't finish that sentence.
I love miscellaneous and obscure facts.

If that cake had hit you'd be suffering a serious injury.
I don't know what's going wrong whether the heat is affecting everything but I am just about ready to give up on making that ruddy cake.

I can't remember the last time I felt I have received decent customer service on household bills etc.
However on a slight tangent, I once received excellent waiter service and great food at an Indian restaurant. I was so impressed that I sent a letter praising my experience. I cried tears or joy when they replied saying they have never received a positive letter before. That made my week ;-)

Good for you djaa1978!!
Now leon, I'm absolutely dying of curiosity; why does a golf ball have 326 dimples??
Do dimples make it fly better, and does the number 326 help it to land in the hole?

Well, I have a result. I sent a letter off to Sky by email and by recorded delivery, cost me nearly £5 for the pleasure.. and received a letter this morning telling me that the 'outstanding balance' on the account has been cleared.
They really are very highly accomplished at avoiding responsibility for a situation! The letter is a marvel - no admission that they made a lash up of it.
Anyway, I shall not take it for red that the balance on my account has been cleared since left and right hands appear to act independently at Sky and am putting this letter in a safe place!
