I got a call yesterday from my psych lady, this month I was due to start on a new ADHD med - now that my anxiety seems to have chilled a bit! I was so excited. All the possibilities that come with starting a new med.. it could revolutionise my life!
This phone call was to say that the CCG has ceased funding Adult ADHD in my area, and that I need to go back to my GP to be re-referred to a different clinic IF there is another one.. What about my new meds? I ask. She says that she can't prescribe them because she wouldn't be able to follow it up.
So now I feel a bit like I'm back to square one. I have a diagnosis, and I'm happy with that.
The first available appointment with my GP, the only doctor I will see, is the 10th of March. Then I guess it's back to the 9+ months wait to be referred and sort out funding and whatever else it is we all have to wait for. IF there is a place for me to be referred to. and in the meantime no meds, no support from the psych..

Hi Bee
What a slap in the face!
One of the main reasons we set up this site was to give people the information they need to fight this dreadful post code lottery!!
Are you happy to tell us which part of the country you live in?
So, now the CCG is no longer willing to fund an Adult ADHD clinic in your area they now have to agree to fund an "out of area" specialist Adult ADHD clinic. When you have your appointment with the Gp that is what he/she has to request - an out of area referral. You're probably in a better position than most as I'm assuming your psychiatrist has already given you a dx of ADHD. Is that the case - the psychiatrist has actually dx you as having ADHD. I helped someone on this board who was having problems in ? Staffordshire - it's not the same area is it?

Yeah, I'm in Wiltshire, and yes I have been officially diagnosed.
I know its not the end of the world, I'm not on ADHD meds at the mo anyway, so it just means I'll carry on as I am.
I'm just gutted because I had the chance to try this med which MIGHT have been exactly what I needed.
I'll investigate this tweet! I don't see them on the mobile site
