If I try to get to aadd forums from a computer in Southwark libaries I get the message below. Is there anyone else in Southwark who could give me some moral support, or who has experience of negotiating with local authorities? I have a sneaking suspicion that the word "adult" in the title is triggering a panic button. I feel if I contact someone in the library I will get a response along the liines of that is the way it is or it is out policy . I am therefore thinking of contacting a councillor. Argument along the lines of - they want people to support themselves
- the council are putting a lot of emphasis on peer support (that is another rant .....)
- It is rather frustrating that a serious disability support site is blocked as being chat when it can be argued it is less chat-ish than say Facebook which works fine.

Have you tried accessing any other forums? I presume the ghastly fb is also blocked? They would also have to block any other pages that allow public comments, such as news sites and most blogs. If they are all blocked too, then I'd go along with it being their policy. If not I'd raise it first with the library, and then with the council. Oh! just seen that fb works fine. Well it's bs then. Get them to amend it's classification on the list of blocked/allowed sites, and if it needs more than a polite request at the library, contact your local councillors. While they're doing that they should amend fb's status to "web chat"

Thanks. I notice the scheme is intended for schools and probably hasn't had too much thought put into it. AADD isnt going to be relevant to schools.
I will put my suggestion in writing so i have an audit trail should i need to go to councillor.

Sometimes it only takes one 'bad word' to get a site blocked.
I remember once at a cafe the frustration of random pages of a discussion thread being locked off.
