hi dizzydee so sorry you are going through this. here's my two penn'orth & research 1. i always recommend the membership website benefits and work. it was set up by a couple of disability benefit experts who set up online support when local advocacy services started to be cut. they train advocates and lobby govt, and also write brilliant guides to help get through every step of ESA and DLA/PIP process - applying, mandatory reconsideration and tribunals. there's also a moderated forum which is staffed daily by v experienced people. it costs c £15/year and is quite honestly the best money i spend all year. i previously had help from local CAB to appeal ICB but their funds were cut, and someone recommended B&W to me. they helped me get through the ICB to ESA transfer, and then DLA appeal. (i haven't yet transferred to PIP). it stopped me going loopy at a time when i was SO anxious and really, really struggling. 2. if you have some questions - rather than wanting support to get through the whole process - & can manage the phone, you could try the disability law service? helpline plus loads of info available on their website. 3. the specialist DLA/PIP site advicenow, which is a guide to whether to appeal plus signposting to find local support; 4. turn2us which is a specialist benefits advice charity who have a helpline, guides etc 5 this guide plus signposting from CAB 6 DRUK website has factsheets, info the same as found elsewhere i really hope there's something helpful here. let us know how you go? good luck

Thank you I have seen this benefits and work site before but was worried as it could be a scam thanks for reassuring me its genuine... I know its not a lot of money but I cant afford to throw away £15 quid at the minute.
I don't seem to have any motivation until its bloody bedtime and so I missed calling the CAB the last 2 days but I will definitely do it Monday.
Will the benefits and work site actually help me or just tell me what to do??
Thanks again contraymary

i don't know exactly how much support is available from any of these organisations, i went with the ones which are reputable and provide specialist advice on a not-for-profit basis. some of these orgs provide guides - B&W guides are v v detailed & i've found them the best. others have helplines and can talk you through specifics, which may be similar to what B&W do via their forum. other orgs can signpost you to any local specialist services. i think it may be a question of asking, and seeing what you can get locally. my friends have generally found there are some sort of specialist advocacy advisor available - sometimes it's only advice on the end of the phone, some will come to tribunal with you, some are able to help fill in forms. fingers crossed for you

There's also disability rights uk. & you could check local advocacy groups & see if your local social work have a welfare right dept- when i worked in mh in scotland we used this dept to do all s/u's dla forms/appeals/support at appointments etc, but i don't know if it works the same anymore
