I'm innatentive/impulsive.
In groups I'm an introvert.
One to one, or with people who I'm very comfortable with, I'll start being a bit more of an extrovert.

What definitions of extroversion/introversion are you using?
Using jungs work on extroversion/introversion i am a introvert but combined type. But by general publics' usage of these terms i suspect i would be an extrovert as i am v sociable & tactile

I am an Introvert combined type.
Its not that I don't like people. They are simply exhausting. I have a 1 hour window before meltdown.
Any attempts to sustain the effort, ends with headaches, impulsiveness and over exuberance.
Trouble is I keep forgetting this and enthusiastically volunteer for things that are extroverted. My mini extrovert leads me into danger.
Still trying to figure this one out.

interesting, esp around what terms mean
on a myers briggs analysis i have gone from being an extrovert (when younger/healthier) and am now an x - rather than an introvert or extrovert - getting my energy from both within/quiet time/solitude AND without/socialising/sparking off other people
could we have a bit more info pls?

I would be intresested also in this. I know jung defines extrovert/introvert as terms of how people get energy. Extroverts are replenished by spending time with people, introverts need time alone as down time to replenish their energy reserves. He did alot of research & found 3/4 of people are extroverts, that extroverts & introverts have diffeting brain structures & while introverts take longer to learn thimgs they have a deeper capacity for knowledge. I know 3/4 of highly senstive people are introverts, & hsp have high cross over with all dds. I never really understood these terms before i leared this. I am sociable, tactile, need people & het hyperactive around people so others label me as extroverted. But i allways knew i needed alone time to function & that i only coped so long being around people, however much i do well with it & am generally popular & friendly- it just didn't seem to match up with my need to be alone. Not sure how much other definitions varry-i just can't remember anymore. But this one makes so much sense to me.

blaze and contrarymary I'm the same. . .I need both. . .I can't click on the poll because I'm neither (or both) introvert/extrovert.

fairly introverted very innatentive here... happier in solitude because it's not hard work trying to fit in with conversation and my favourite thing is laying in the British sun (rare I know) as it's not too hot, with my headphones on listening to any kind of music I can get completely lost in. ultimate recharge! meant to add... all this changes when alcohol becomes involved... extroverted hyperactive then with very very bad consequences generally, so moderation is definitely a must for me.

Thanks, everyone.
The definition I was going with is the cultural one really – are you someone who goes out and does stuff and likes being around lots of people, or someone more at home with intellectual pursuits – not necessarily solitary, but with a small group of intimates. Make sense?

that definition would put me back in the middle - a part-time extrovert?

blaze says she is hyperactive around people and makes her appear more extrovert than she is. I think I am like that too. The longer I am with people the more hyper and impulsive I become. Then I totally burn out, fall out or am blanked out. I think I must be deeply introverted. Maybe being hyper around others is part of an empathy thing. I always feel people need cheered up. I love being with joyous people, their energy is so uplifting because I feel they can handle my own inner exuberance and we can have a good laugh. Most people talk about their happiness but their energy isn't at all happy.

Combined but leaning a lot more against inattention than hyperactivity. Highly introverted and introspective but most people probably see me as extraverted and social.

Communication exhausts me. I definitely use my energy talking to people, and need to recharge by myself for a while. It's lucky because I'm not overly keen on people and don't WANT to spend much time talking to them lol. So I'm introverted in both senses. And Inattentive. I'm happy to sit by myself (or with my husband) and watch the world go by No one else is allowed on my space!

You might have to put asd into the soup here, given the level of comorbidity and impact on social interaction.
Personally I'm manically extrovert.
