Hi everybody. I was referred to my local Adult ADHD Clinic in March 2015. 14 months later, I am still yet to receive a date for my initial appointment, and I've just found out the clinic has recently decided to stop taking new patients so they can clear the backlog. I was initially given an estimate of "upto a year", and at the time that was a huge relief because I knew there was finally this chance I could get my life sorted out, and I thought the time would fly by. In reality, it feels like my life has been on hold for the last year, with no sign of getting on track again soon.
I don't know what I intend to achieve by posting this, but it said this was for venting so I guess I just want to do that. I like coming here from time to time to read about how people are doing better now they've had a diagnosis and treatment, I just hope I'll get to leave this limbo soon and be one of those people too.

hi lgempathy i wonder if it's worth ringing up and asking when you might expect to be seen? that way at least you'd have a bit more of an idea. knowledge is power, to a certain extent. otherwise i;m sure there's a legal national time limit for what counts as an acceptable service/waiting list from referral to being seen - i think it's two years? -and if the local service can't see you within that time limit you are entitled to ask to be referrred out of area.
