Hi gc7 The ADHD Foundation is mainly concerned with children. . .I've asked them about it before. There are 2 current petitions in the section 'Improve Recognition of Adult ADHD in UK' on this forum. The change.org isn't brilliantly written, but I think is well meaning. The other one is about private consultants and GP shared care. I'm currently drafting a letter to Heidi Alexander MP - Shadow Secretary of State for Health, because she knows me, asking her to to increase awareness of the state of adult ADHD provision. I'm writing it with shep2016 and, although I'm making parts of it personal, the intention is to make a template letter for others to use to send to their MPs.

WTF gc7 i'm so sorry you've had such a crap time with the private psych if you have a good realtionship with GP, could be worth going along and having a longer appt to talk it through? it's so important to find a way to be heard. are you anywhere near London? i'm wondering if you might be able to get a referral to the Maudsley who not only specialise in assessing adult adhd but also have lots of expertise in assessing alongside/screening for comorbid conditions, inc the symptoms which overlap with bipolar esp bipolar II. good luck

Tell me about it. I'm in Hampshire. I was diagnosed privately via my uni by a ed psych last June. Since then I tried to be referred for services in Hampshire to be told there is none and that they have to apply for extra funding for. I have to prove that my needs are above another person with the condition. Just because I looked like I have my shit together on the outside doesn't mean I actually do. It is just so frustrating.
