Trying to name our new house, and it's proving rather harder than I expected! I would like to call upon you lovely, creative, out-of-the-box-thinking, ninja ADHDers to please spare a minute and cast your thoughts this way (please!) We (I) want something quirky (so more creative than The Willows) but not over the top (like Fireballs of Doom (although actually I quite like that one!)). We like rats. Name a house after a rat? unlikely to be a popular move with the neighbours. A group of rats is called a Mischief - Mischief House? sounds like we're gonna cause trouble. I like fairies and mythical things.. Toadstool Terrace, Pixie Corner, Fairyland - bloody love 'em, but they'd all be fairly hard for my husband to live down! Phoenix Place or something to do with a dragon (bit less girly). Kind of asking for it to go up in flames though. The first thing we managed to get fixed up was 2 Jasmine plants on either side of the door, and an arch for them to climb. So perhaps in honour of them a Jasmine themed name? Thought of Jasmine Arches - sounds pretty, but a bit too err... normal for my liking. Although probably not common, it doesn't really scream imagination or different-ness.. Perplexed and exhausted

Also, Discworld references are a maybe:
Great A'Tuin, Feegle(s), Weatherwax..
I love Death's character, but I don't think we could wangle 'Death' in there anywhere without upsetting the neighbours!
Bloody neighbours keep ruining my plans lol.

My dream is to plant a woodland and call it The Forest of Skund You could have The Cottage of Skund? Or Just Skund Cottage? And Death's house is called 'Mon Repos' in Discworld (Quirmian for 'my place of rest' apparently, which always makes me laugh). Other place names from Discworld that might be appropriate: - The Shades (a 'colourful' neighborhood in Ankh-Morpork - it's also where Nobby Nobbs and Sam Vimes grew up)
- Chimeria (not only the homeland of heroes, also linked to the mystical beast the Chimera)
- Cori Celesti (where the Gods live)
- Wyrmberg (home of the dragons)
- Krull
On a less serious note there's also Mad Stoat, Bad Ass, The Place Where the Sun Does Not Shine, Oi Dong, Bonk, Klotz, Djelibeybi, Bugarup, Bhangbhangduc and Land of the Soul Cake Duck
Non-Pratchett themed:
- Snailcreep Terrace
- Wyvern Place
- Kraken Place
- Terabithia
- Fire Drake House (Uruloki in Quenya (LOTR Elvish language) - Smaug was an Uruloki aka Fire Drake)
- Hippogriff House
- Kelpie Cottage (shapeshifting water spirit)
- Alicorn Corner (winged unicorn)
- Sylph House (air spirit)
- Aunga House (good part of the soul)
- Djinn Terrace (genie)
- Fenris House (mythological wolf - one of Loki's children)
- Kitsune Cottage (shapeshifting fox)
- Naiad Cottage (water nymph)

i'm v tired and rather braindead, but must say how proud i am of this forum and the much under-utilised ability to come up with appropriate house names it's genius
