Hi there,
I'm an adult diagnosed with ADHD in the last few months, by a private psychiatrist. I was first prescribed Ritalin 10mg 3 x a day, but wanted to switch to long-release, so was switched to Elvanse 30mg once a day. I've been on the Elvanse 30mg for a month now and definitely feel it helping me, and my psychiatrist has now prescribed me for a further two months of it.
I had read online though that medication doses should be increased when first trying them out, but my psychiatrist hadn't suggested I try a higher dose of Elvanse.
I'm really curious to see the benefits of taking more, because right now I've literally not tried any more. I was wondering if it's advisable for me to increase the dose myself to see how it impacts me, or could this be dangerous?
My psychiatrist has sent a request to my GP asking for me to be prescribed 30 mg Elvanse on the NHS, but I'm worried about that happening when I haven't tried a higher dose!
Thanks

at the end of the day this guy works for you , you shouldnt keep adding this is usually where you get more pronounced side effects follow you docs instructions and review your experience with your doc, dont have him keep you on a high dose either , its your decision, everyone reacts differently to the medications and only you can make that decision, if its not working for you go higher or lower with your docs supervision and take note of benefits to side effects ratio

Hmm. .of course, levels of meds differ from person to person, but it seems unusual
that the private Dr isn't interested in titrating you to work out your ideal dose. .
30mg is the normal starting dose . . usually going up to 50mg, then, I think 80..
Elvanse isn't cheap on a private prescription and I'm also surprised that you're
on on the same amount without trying more for several months.
Because of the way that Elvanse works, I'm not sure that taking more tablets
would give you the effect of a larger dose. Have you brought up increasing with
your private Dr? Warning! 50mg is over £100 a month on private prescription.
