P.S. Avoid Tees, Esk & Wear Valley Adult ADHD Services at all costs.
It sounds like you had a bad experience with TEWV trust. I am sorry if this has happened to you. I too was assessed and given treatment from TEWV but found the whole process fantastic, the staff ranging from the receptionists to the advanced nurse practitioner to the psychiatrist was second to none care. I went through my GP and was specific in what I wanted, was assessed by the access team and again was very specific but had everything backed up with evidence. Was assessed by the adult adhd team (in Stockton) and was asked to provide my medical records from when I was a kid at the first appointment. I searched everywhere for them and couldn't find anything. I went to my first assessment appointment and they had found them comprehensively searching every area which gave me a good impression. Was trialled on medication for a fair few months and each decision was made in collaboration between me and the advanced nurse practitioner. 7 months later after the successful trial of the medication I got my diagnosis from the psychiatrist. I was given all the support that they have funding for and directed to other support.
I know also that they have taken on further staff but did lose the psychiatrist (not sure if he has been replaced or not). I have been discharged and can get support from the local affective disorders team from just making a phone call. I will have 6 monthly reviews and my GP now prescribes my medication.
Keep in there and don't lose faith when trying to be diagnosed. Not everyone is against us, they can appear as though they are due to funding limitations which isn't their fault nor yours.

Hi Gc7
I saw your post 're this Maudsley place which I don't know anything about, but what interested me was this:
P.S. Avoid Tees, Esk & Wear Valley Adult ADHD Services at all costs.
I was diagnosed via this team about a month ago. There was someone I saw who I just couldn't connect with so asked to see someone else who turned out to be absolutely fantastic. I also met the new professor who has a special interest in Adhd. I really couldn't ask for anyone better to help me so far!
I'm sorry to hear you felt let down but like a lot of services it can come down to the individual you see and not the overall service that is the problem.
Hope you are managing well now. Early days for me but feeling more positive!
Jamie
