Hi there
I was wondering if someone could help!
I was diagnosed with adult adhd march this year. I was originally diagnosed when i was 15. I had a bit of help and saw a few people and i started on atemoxetine for three months at 16 but I hated it and I have never taken anything since, I just vent my anger and adapt my lifestyle but I just know there are things I will always be rubbish at.
I scored ' quite high' on the scoring system which I wasn't sure if i agreed with some of the things that were said I was told it is a 2 year waiting list to see a psychiatrist as the clinic runs ONE DAY A WEEK
so I can't get any yeah ok you have it but lets move on etc. The woman on the phone actually wished me luck with my uni course!! the thing is, I don't want to start messing around with concerta in my late twenties and especially if I am lucky getting to be what i want to do.
My main issue currently in the process of applying to uni to be a Paramedic and I know that this is going to get flagged up and I am bricking it. I don't take any medication, I don't speak to anyone occasionally the GP but I just get on with my life? the GP said she was really impressed how well i was handling things and ive told her from the word go I don't want to sit around and get sad about stuff as i'm just determined to be a paramedic.
walk around and have a bit of space. To be honest I have nobody to talk with about ADHD in a professional status, I feel embarrassed and support in my family has included ' i think we are all a bit ADHD' and ' it's not really real' so it's never filled me with hope.
I have never told an employer about it and I am learning to drive but i haven't told the DVLA? again i never saw the point and the job I am in I can move and
I'm really worried about when I apply for uni if they are going to use this against me and I won't be allowed to be a paramedic? at all?
I mean yeah I once left a uni course but I found it boring and I hated the place and this was used in my report and I have changed jobs but Three of them i moved up in the company i was in because I was just fortunate.
I've worked so hard the past two years from volunteering and working and taking on a college course which thankfully have been really supportive but what If I am failed by occupational health in the interview? I literally don't know what i'd do.
does anyone work in the NHS in a role and able to tell me their experience?
any help or experience would be great
thank you
