Hi
well today is the day of my assessment, with ADHD special physiatrist, I'm pretty nervous of what will happen at the assessment and if I'll be walking away feeling better and can start to rebuild my life for the better, I've been waiting for this referral for over a year now, I need the fog to clear so I can keep my job and my relationship from collapsing again. Can anyone advice I'm see dr prince in Blackpool

Hi. mikeymc I don't have any specific advice, but it's natural to feel nervous and invest everything in getting a diagnosis. You're seeing a specialist. .they know what they're looking for and it's not all in the questions. . it can be in the way you talk and move, so just try to be yourself. . .and be truthful. . I know that I minimised some of my difficulties because it's embarrassing to admit and you're so used to hiding things and pretending everything's fine. I wish you all the best

I'm so pleased mikeymc the only new stimulant that says 'adult' on it is Elvanse (lisdexamphetamine) .. . is it a long lasting one? I'm trialling it at the moment after not getting on too well with methylphenidate and it's much better. . I can't say quite how, except I feel alert, like I've had a good sleep. .and I'm less anxious. .can't say I'm any more focused, but I hope to increase to 70 mg next week. . don't expect miracles. .but now you're diagnosed you can learn how to manage it and take control. . .now that you know what you're dealing with. . I hope things get better for you

Hi mikeymc my first day on 30mg, I felt a bit spacey and decided in advance that I wouldn't drive that day. I drove the next day though! I've never felt sleepy on elvanse, which is great because the mph made me really tired a lot of the time. People react to meds differently, so I can't say how you'll react. It's probably sensible not to drive if possible on the first day. . If it can't be avoided, be careful. I hope they're good for you.
