I have been to see a herbalist who has made me up some medicine. Been on it for 8 weeks. I am now able to focus and complete tasks etc. Keeping it simple so far life is so much easier. I have tried all sorts of medications including concerta which made me high and caused me heart problems. Everybody is noticing the difference in me as I am so much calmer.
I will try and keep this updated as this is life changing and be nice to know if anyone one else has gone down the herbal route. Thanks

Various cultures have herbal 'remedies' that are reputed to help with ADHD type problems. Gingko, gotu kola etc, some are easy to get hold of, others are impossible (in UK). I have tried gingko a bit, and should really try it more, and stick at it, but . . . I have also tried 'neurozen' or somesuch, but that made me sick, worse than and I can't remember the name of the stuff, not mph, not amphetamines, the non stimulant one eta Strattera I find dark chocolate helps a bit, but I go off it big time after a few days, and I think it stops being so effective too. Lots of people find coffee helps but that's notorious for losing effectiveness, so that folks end up drinking gallons of the stuff. It does bleep all for me. Once in a blue moon, it actually helps me go to sleep, I should probably try it now! I didn't get to bed til one a.m. and I've been awake for ages. Racing thoughts and all that. Btw, I am convinced that the racing thoughts type insomnia is not actually directly due to ADHD, as I am always a crap sleeper, but only have the racing thoughts crap make my adrenaline keep me awake when I am suffering major stress, like I have now. Another herbal thing I'd like to try is valerian, but I should at least finish the bottle of gingko tablets before I start buying everything in the shop. I'd be very interested to know what the herbalist has given you, and what country they are from. I have spoken to a chinese herbalist (briefly) and they said to try gingko. The little gingko I have tried seemed to make the mph not wear off so fast, but I found I was only taking 1/3 of what I should have. mph is only slightly helpful for me, but at least it doesn't have any noticeable downside.
