This is my first post and wanted to share the visit I had with my doctor today.
I'd done multiple online tests looks at many different websites and seem to fit all the criteria for ADD.
I told my doctor that I struggle to concentrate, struggle to finish tasks and go from job to job.
She says that she didn't think I had ADD but would see that the referral criteria was and get back to me. She said that mindfulness may help me focus more and gave me a website to visit to book an appointment.
Has anyone heard or done sonething like this before?

Yes yes yes. . .wrong wrong wrong. .
Mindfulness is the new CBT. . .ie the new cheap 'cure-all' fad for mental illness. .
I know that some people with ADHD find it helpful, but I know others who
get more out of traditional meditation. Mindfulness is about living in the moment
and I only live in the moment anyway. .physical exercise can help.
I'm constantly angered by the ignorance about ADHD (ADD isn't used any more) by
medical professionals . .it's stopping people getting help. .it's stopping people from
living better lives. If you think you have ADHD, you probably do.
My ADHD specialist says that if someone presents saying that they've tried all the
meds and treatment for depression/anxiety and they haven't worked . .it's time to
explore ADHD . .stick to your guns . .it might not be easy. .

i don't know anything about mindfulness, but am in a similar situation with you regarding the doc. Went about 5 weeks ago and told him my concerns. He didn't dismiss me outright, but wanted to get in touch with a specialist who I would need referring to so he could make sure he knew what info to get from me to make a good case for funding. He admitted he knew very little about adhd, only that the symptoms could be similar to depression - and he did accept I don't feel depressed. Anyway, going back on Thursday as he's heard back, and will see where we go from there. Good luck with it, and definitely go see them (or someone else depending on what they say!) if they don't get back to you

Just to add to gc7 . . .Driven to Distraction is also available as an audio book if if you find that easier than reading. The NICE guidelines for ADHD are also useful. You can find them online. They state that ADHD should only be diagnosed by a specialist. This also includes specialist nurses.

Thanks you for the replies
I had phone call from the doctor today and due to funding need to go next Thursday so sit down and fill out some forms. Not sure what kind of questions these will be but happy just did get back to me.
On another note and not sure if this is a symtom of adhd I had a panic attack which I can only describe as the worst thing ever to happen in my life. I've had an attack before and was on a plane but passed after half an hour but this one lasted around 3 hours.
I coming to terms recently that maybe I've been suffering from anxiety for many years but only just starting to actually know what anxiety really is. If that makes sense.
