Hi
Just wondering if anyone has any tips to get me to chill & relax. Im currently in a hyper period & im getting out of control. I've spoken to my GP today & there's nothing she can do until I've officially been diagnosed with ADHD & bipolar type 2. Dr told me to basically hang in there whilst I wait for the tests to be done. Easier said than done when it's effecting your life. Everyday is just a battle & I worry what effects I'm having on my kids.
Thanks Roz

Thanks. I'm open to any suggestions. Struggling to keep control of myself & need to relax somehow. Thinking of ideas when I'm like this isn't something I'm good at.

Hi, I find it depends on the situation. If I have things on my mind then writting a list can help. If I need to relax I listen to music (I listen to easy going EDM) and if I'm agitated and pacing I try going for a walk or the gym. If I'm becoming aggressive I have a safe object I use for punching to "get it out my system" (punching bag basically)
Hope this helps?

Thanks for your reply. Will give your suggestions a go as I need a new way to cope. I was a runnner so running & the gym was the way I use to cope most of the time. Unfortunately I'm restricted to non impact sports only & I've got to accept this & find new ways of coping. I find it hard to open my mind to think of ideas.

When I was struggling with insomnia a dr suggested I write down everything that was racing through my head. Turned out to be a great idea, once they're written down I stop obsessing about them.
I also find music is the only thing that can set my mind straight. I can listen to music and then the racing thoughts disappear.

For non impact I suggest rowing, you could also try the cross trainer, I find these great for cardio. Excercise bike is also good, though I feel like it still puts a little strain on my knees. My favourite music is by a DJ called B.Traits, she does sets at 1am Saturday mornings on Radio 1 (you can listen anytime on iPlayer though). There are also great sets on YouTube, I really like synthwave too. (I find this kind of music with a regular beat soothing, you might not, but it's worth a try? It can help me focus when I need to work as well. Keep trying different music, there is so much out there now!) Also I recommend trying meditation, it's not easy but it's one of the few things that have helped me to still my thoughts even a little bit. There are lots of videos on YouTube, good ones specific for sleeping too. As with anything, keep trying different stuff till you find things that work, only you will know what helps the most in the end, don't give up trying and give things time

Thanks will give these suggestions a go. I don't sleep much at night so meditation would be great if I could get it to work. I' always feel I'm trying to do stuff like exercise to make me tired but it doesn't work often. I'd spend all day in the gym if possible, it's the place I like being best. Headphones on training & im in my own little world!! I may have to give up training at some point temporarily due to a possible operation on an ankle injury. (An injury that was my fault and a few people like to remind me of that fact, totally unhelpful & something I loose it over). Scared of not being able to exercise as ii will loose my only coping mechanism that I currently have, another reason why I'm seeking other ways to cope. Like you say we are all different & different things work, just got to find what will work for me.
