Sleep monitor (proper official, has to go back in the morning) all set up and running. I've been in bed for two hours, (will be more, by the time I finish this) even nearly nodded off two or three times, but just can't get to sleep.
I knew it was going to be a disaster from the moment the nurse showing me how to set it up said nothing for a second after I answered her question 'what time do you go to bed usually?' answer 'one o'clock' . . .
That wasn't going to be long enough, the gizmo needs to be back tomorrow morning in time to be set up again for the next patient.
I tried to explain that I couldn't sleep to order, and that if I tried going to sleep before I was totally knackered, I was quite likely not to get to sleep at all, but there was no use in that, as the equipment has to be back . . .
I gave in, and crossed my fingers that I might actually get sleepy at a reasonable hour, as has actually happened more often in the last few weeks than in the last umpteen years. So, the machine was set up to record from eleven o'clock, and I had to be in bed by then.
Well, I managed that, but even aside from not being remotely sleepy, setting it up again, and the slight discomfort of wearing it, has totally trashed my usual bedtime routine. On top of that there was some wierd bird noise making me worry about a hen that's gone broody outside. Ordinarily, I'd've gone to check on them all, just for peace of mind, but I'm supposed to be asleep, or at least in bed, not wandering around in the garden . . .
To cap it all, well and truly, there were previews of a program about RLS, and weirdly that set it off in my toes, and while trying to get to sleep, it came back again really bad,in my legs and arms! Eventually I gave up and sat up to write on here, and weirder still, it's pretty much gone now
I know I can't sleep (or be awake and alert) 'to order', but this is nuts!
