Guys anyone recommend reviews of specialist services in Scotland? I've been referred to a general psych which concerns me. No doubt they'll be very professional but I'm still worried they may be dismissive or not fully understanding of adult ADHD due to lack of experience in that area.

Give them a chance brother!
I was quite apprehensive and worried about what to expect from the assessment process. After a shaky start everything seems to be going well just now.
Voice any concerns and be clear about what you want to get out of a diagnosis.
I can't speak for how things work in Scotland, just wanted to offer a few words of encouragement!
Hope everything goes well!

Hi, I had my son (16 yo) assessed privately by Gordon Brown (ADHD direct Ltd) in Glasgow. Although he is not a psychiatrist he is a consultant nurse specialising in ADHD. I have found his service so far to be professional. Very thorough assessment. My son is now diagnosed and we have a shared care agreement with our GP. Gordon advises the GP what to prescribe and GP writes the prescription. At the moment, whilst my son is trying to find meds which suit, we have meds review appointments every 6 weeks, and once he is settled on a dose this will reduce to every 6 months, I believe. Much quicker than NHS. Good luck with your assessment.

The general psych who did my first adult adhd assessment (he had socialist interest in adhd) was amazing as was his college who did my meds for a decade. The adgd service I've seen since in England are shit.
So don't write of general psychs
