Hello,
I wonder if some of you might know of a link I could send to some legal/debt authorities due to some issues I've been having.
I require more time submitting information for things as I'm frequently incurring debt & more recently some legal issues due to my adhd.
I've got a doctors letter to include but wondered if there is a source on the internet which explains what legal rights I have with regard to this sort of thing - i.e need for extra time due to the condition coming under the disability act or something similar? (does adhd come under the disability act?)
Something like this would be a huge help - if such a thing exists, has anyone had experience of using it to successfully grant more time when it comes to things like legal/court proceedings & general issues such as being given a longer period of time in appling for things like student loan deferments etc?
Thank you :-)

Hi eli77Under the terms of the Equality Act 2010 you would be entitled to any reasonable adjustments (e.g. extra time) that would help cope with effects of ADHD such as difficulties with concentration. Here are 5 links that are helpful: 1. Here is a link to guidance published by the Government's Office for Disability Issues in which ADHD is given as an example on page 12: Equality Act 2010 Guidance 2. The Equality Act includes a public sector duty and here's a link to the Essential Guide to the Public Sector Equality Duty3. And here's a list of the public authorities that, under the Equalities Act, have a Public Sector Duty (it includes Courts) 4. Here's a link to a list of other guidance's in relation to your rights regarding other types of services (public & otherwise): Equality and Human Rights Commission5. Here's a link to the actual Equality Act 2010
