What always surprises me on forums is that when you click on the thread to read the latest post, you always start at the beginning and have to scroll to the end. Obviously this is helpful if you are reading the thread for the first time and want to read it in order, but I would have thought it would make more sense that the older messages were at the bottom and more recent ones at the top. Am I the only one who thinks this?

Yes it does make sense. Will have to look into it.

If you click on the button saying [new] (in the threads window) it will take you to the first message you haven't seen before. This sounds fairly close to what pinkbeauty wants.

Yes, I do view the new posts on their own but what I meant was, when you actually open a thread, to read it through, I just think it makes more sense to have it in reverse order. But, it might not make sense to everyone!! Just the way my mind works!! Especially if the thread has several pages, I know you can click on the last page and view it, but I think the latest page should show up first. Its not just this forum, I've always thought this on every forum I've ever been on and never seen it in reverse order so maybe it can't happen.

I actually like to scan quickly through the old posts to refresh my memory before I read the new post because my working memory is poor and I've sometimes forgotten the context of the posts (even when they seemed terribly important at the time!)
PB you can add bookmarks to the threads you are interested in, and you can manage the book marks so that you receive an alert when a new post is added. You should be able to click on the alert and be taken to the new post. You'll see bookmarks under your profile.

I would find it incredibly confusing and annoying to have the last thread first especially as many of the replies refer to a reply and not necessarily the original post, so they kind of follow on from each other. The idea of reading backwards does not appeal to me at all!

Ever since you posted this, I've been looking for what you meant. But I've just found it!! And I didn't know you could do it, so thank you. Actually that really helps me cos it drives me mad scrolling through!!!! ;D

OK - add an image to be clearer. If you click on the icon that says new you can read all posts that you haven't seen before. Off course you can then scroll back to remind yourself of recent discussion that you have already seen.

I registered yesterday and also find using this site really diffic - which is big shame cos I think the posts are so useful to see contributions from ADHD on how they cope 'in real life' as opposed to articles n books.
Like your quotes ... seen you haven't posted for awhile ... did you write em? they alone were worth registration pinkbeauty thx v much ... hope you see this x
