I find it really hard to recall any childhood memories. Generally speaking my childhood was okay but I was emotionally neglected. I am in Psychotherapy and I barely remember anything. Some people say that some traumas are kept stored away and may come out while in therapy but I worry that I am never going to remember anymore than the few I have. Any memory would be good--even if it is a bad one. I'm just feeling upset and frustrated by this. Does anyone feel the same? Or have any advice? Thanks

I'm with you on this. My parents were kinda lousy growing up. Drink, drugs and violence etc etc.
I'm one of 5 and I have clear recollections of their fights and arguments but everything else has been misplaced somewhere in my brain. All the good bits. My sister often reminds of events that she remembers clearly but i haven't a clue. It's surprising as she is 5 years younger than me so a normal expectancy would be that I remember the most. All of my other siblings seem to remember more than me also.
I have the odd occassion where i remember something and then the detail trickles back through but on the most-part its all gone.
Maybe people with ADHD process things differently or have weakened retention for certain types of things. I know for sure that in general I'm pretty lousy with names, dates and anything like that so it may be linked.
Have you brought this up with a doctor? They may be able to refer you or just provide some more insight.

I'm the same, I remember very few childhood events, the ones I do remember are a mix of good and bad.
