So over 2 years since I got diagnosed & I'm still working out what's ADHD & what's me
So does anyone else feel really awkward when ure guests r leaving & they go in 4 a hug?
I actually flinch as if they're going 2 punch me or something!
It's a standing joke when my cousin emails us she sends everyone hugs & kisses & a firm handshake 4 me
When I do opt for a hug (very rarely) the person I've hugged rings everyone up 2 let them know!
Mine & my mum's theory is that I don't like hugs coz when I was little I was petite & looked like a doll
and people always wanted 2 pick me up & give me a hug & I just wanted 2 run around
It's kinda like I was being restrained
So I was thinking is it a learnt behaviour where I associate hugs with being restrained?
I also blame that on why I refused 2 wear dresses at the age of 3 coz u look less like a doll in trousers so less chance of someone wanting 2 hug me
I still hate dresses & still hate hugs!
Unless I'm in the mood 4 a hug then it's ok but mostly dislike them
Anyone else similar or is it just a me quirk?

Also like to sit with spaces each side of me for meals at home which is weird

Hummm just the 2 of us then!
It's probably very low on the list of issues I need 2 address
Anyway I think it makes my hugs more special (as awkward & strained as they are)
I'm going 2 take the moral high ground & say it makes me a better person than u lot who'll hug people u've just met!

depend s on the person, sometimnes I can hug someone ive only just met, other people ive known for years it feels awkward..
some people i'd never dream of hugging.
a few times Ive met up with people Ive 'known ' online for a long time and we've ha da big genuine hug bnefore we even say hello,
spontaneous, but genuine and warm hugs are great.
I was at an trade show thing a couple of years agao and there was lots of hugging going on at the end of the weekend, and i ended up having to hug someone i really dont like much, and he can't stand me either , id dunno how it ended up happening but we both realised too late , its the most awkward hug ive ever been a part of, a couple of mates said the same even just watching....the guy used to talk to me addressing me as 'my friend, a' and whenever people use that term its always with people they dont really like..

Yep I asked this lot about photos & yep there's a few of us that don't do photos
Also a few of us that don't do talking on the phone
Meaning counseling via Skype is a no go 4 quite a few of us
Reading is an issue 4 me as well meaning self help books r no help 4 me
sitting through a meeting is another problem 4 me just the word meeting fills me with Dred
So I can't bring myself 2 attend an ADHD meeting although I'd really like 2 meet more people like me
