I'm very new to all this and I should just say I haven't received a formal diagnosis because I tried speaking to my GP and to a psychotherapist and both just sort of shrugged and said 'Yes, you might well have it', and that was the end of it. Sigh.
Anyway, I saw something on social media about adult ADD/ADHD or whatever we're calling it these days a month or so ago and it resonated so strongly with me and everything I have been struggling with my whole life that for the first time I felt like maybe it wasn't just that I'm stupid and lazy and indecisive. Maybe I actually have a condition that causes me to be this way.
The problem I have now is what to do about certain things. For example, I'm constantly completely exhausted. I run around doing this and that and sorting things and I find it almost IMPOSSIBLE to just sit and watch TV or just sit and read or just SIT. I can't do it. Even if I do watch TV I get restless and end up on my phone or my laptop (I'm meant to be watching a film with my husband right now). But if I can't just sit still and I can't bloody well SLEEP at night, how on Earth do I rest? I'm just so damned tired all the time! Help!?! Please?!

Yep I'm the same if I try have a night in I get that grrr feeling
I can totally relate to babies when they cry for no reason other than they're bored
Best way I can describe it is u constantly feel like u need something
Like if ure really thirsty but there's nothing 2 drink the feeling just consumes u until u get a drink
I found I was permanently exhausted coz I just couldn't settle just so restless
So u'd think having a night in because u r exhausted wud be a good idea
NOPE it makes it worse!
My trick is I play tonnes of sport, I have a match or practice most nights
It gives me the dopamine fix I need & sleeping is not a problem!
I feel less knackered after walking 12miles cycling 18 & then playing tennis for 3hrs than having a night in!

Hey Speedy1.
Thanks for your reply.
And thank you! I never thought about that, to be honest. But it does make sense. I do a lot and it's always the exercise related things that leave me feeling better than the less active things. I play rounders on Monday nights after work and even though I feel tired when I get there, I feel totally energised by the time I leave. I did do too much on Friday (I have a Fitbit and it read 11,500 or so steps when I left work, then I went paddleboarding in the evening, paddled 3 miles in reasonable winds and by the time I went to bed it reckoned I'd done 15,000. I was almost too tired to move, but at least I slept for a change!!!).
I usually work out first thing in the morning, but maybe I ought to aim to do it in the evening, as a way to wind down from my day? But then all the medical advice says you're not meant to exercise in the evenings because it prevents you sleeping, or something like that??
Urgh. I wish I was able to see a medical someone or other and get a bit more advice on this, but it just doesn't seem to be possible!
