Hi all
Can anyone recommend a good consultant to carry out an ADHD assessment? This should be in London (or not more than 70km from London).
Initially, I would pursue going via the NHS but I have already been waiting since December 2018 to get an appointment. It seems crazy to dish out £100s and £100s but I'm really impatient now and I really just want to get to the bottom of my issues. On the grand scheme, dishing out money might not be such a loss if it means I can get my life back on track (hopefully). I'm kind of considering this as a sort of investment.
I'm stuck in a dead end job which I'm overqualified but I'm scared that my suspected condition will make me unsuitable for more prosperous career paths. My lack of concentration is so debilitating, but if I tell anyone this I'll just be greeted with the same generic "Oh! Everyone's distracted from time to time" comment. It's so frustrating as I'm now 36 and feel my life just passed by while I've been waiting for help that will never come. I really want to go back to working in multimedia without people thinking I'm an idiot for losing stuff and for my short term memory in general.
I was actually diagnosed (or MISdiagnosed) with asperger syndrome at 24, which may or not be an accurate description of me but I don't believe it. I also think the AS diagnosis has just delayed the whole process as well.

Hi I went to adhd-360.com they work around the country and they are good excellent! how much did they cost? was it a long wait? I went through a local charity and it cost £1000 and you get a year support, their are cheaper packages for unemployed and without phone email support. The meds you will have to pay for untill your at your right meds and dose then they will get a shared care agreement with your GP so they can prescribe on the NHS. The meds I'm on cost best part £200 a month that's for slow release tablet in the day and a quick relese if it wares off to early. Drop them an email and see if they work in your area. They come to Norwich once a month that's my local one. I did use the priory in Chelmsford but to be honest after meeting the 360 guys I wouldn't recommend them.
