Hi all, I was hoping to get some advice from like minded parents, I am a father of 2 with my eldest beautiful boy of 12 having Adhd he was diagnosed at the age of 4 and has been medicated since starting primary school, he did very well at primary school, however he recently took the step up to secondary school, of which is quite strict with silent learning, which as we know is almost impossible for children in the spectrum. Because of his inability to be quiet and manage his distractions he has almost constantly been placed a isolation room with other children and requested to do Independant learning, due to the amount of time he has spent in this room, the school have stated the next step will be a exclusion to another school for a day. Whilst I understand the schools rules I feel they do not know how to properly deal with my son. Any advice would be great

In your position, I would be asking myself if his tablets are wearing off too soon or not working for some reason.
This is the exact behaviour they are supposed to prevent.

Hi
As above, I switched to slow release at school and it worked wonders.
Also ask to raise awareness amongst his teachers, being aware that he won't react the same way as others to the same treatment.
Making the line of communication between you and the school is open a lot for feedback.
Asking about re arranging the seating in places to minimise distractions.
If the school are being ignorant to the challenges that your son is facing. Reach out to the local MP, this worked wonders for my Mum.
Hope this helps..
