AS the title suggests, this is a vent.
I'm getting seriously annoyed with my GP's inaction. Specifically, my doctors can't prescribe any meds to me as they say I have been diagnosed by a private consultant and they can't take over. They say the only thing they can potentially help is repeat prescriptions once the proper dosage (and how they are working/not working for me) has been properly evaluated.
I'm just so frustrated. I happen to have spent £500 on a diagnosis. "Ridiculous" some might say to pay that much, and I have to say I'd agree. However considering I'm 36 and that my life has been on hold due to this now confirmed condition (ADHD), I was willing to spend that money as a sort of investment to better myself. Looks like I'll need to fork out even more now... Or wait a million years for something to come up on free healthcare.
Has anyone had issues relaying information from private consultants to NHS? I only paid that money to hurry things up, not so I then have to spend even more.
I swear, I sometimes feel people are trying to test the limits of my temper and observe how long it takes before I start pounding my skull against something really hard. (Joking but yeah, I'm really P-ed off)

This is quite usual. Gps wil take over prescribing under shared care once you have found a medication and dose which works for you.
This is usually the case when diagnosed by NHS consultant too.
Until you reach that point, you'll have to pay for private prescriptions, which can be very expensive.
It's not unknown for GPs to prescribe under instruction of a private, or NHS specialist during titration, but it's very rare.
