HELLO To EVERYONE I'm New to this site, I am just starting the process of getting a diagnosis for ADHD by approaching my GP for advice, I seem to have all 3 elements of it from being a child, reason this has come about at my age of 60yrs is the fact I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 6yrs ago whereas my life completely turned upside down from running around like a blue arse fly to not being able to get out of bed unless assisted by my wife. I'm on meds for Fibromyalgia antidepressants & morphine im not really any better for it maybe worse, I could be taking the wrong meds for the wrong diagnosis, my question id like to ask has anyone recovered from ADHD and Fibromyalgia or body aches once diagnosed for ADHD meds Hope this makes sense im struggling to express the way I am. but I do know realise the ADHD symptoms and looking at my school; reports from the 70s its clear on there I had issues. I fancy Psychiatry-UK to do the diagnosis, any recommendations, I was going to find out there waiting list on the NHS if it was way to long pay for myself, im hoping new meds for ADHD will cure or calm the deficits and the fibromyalgia. love to hear from anyone with a positive outcome. thank you for the time reading this thread.

My wife has fibromyalgia too and she takes gabapentin. I’ve looked into this before and there’s definitely something in it. Never too old to get a diagnosis sir ! Best of luck

Interesting Just looked up fibromyalgia (afraid I did not know what it was)
Seems possible it could be linked 2 ADHD in that they both involve shortages of available dopamine
Would be interested 2 know if the ADHD meds help
However I have 2 say I have ADHD but a very high pain threshold
As in I don't seem 2 experience pain in the same way as other people
But I'm a bit of an anomaly coz I've never had a headache in my life (not even after a night of binge drinking)
And I think most people who have ADHD do experience frequent headaches although I'm not really sure
Dopamine is also a big factor in Parkinson's disease
I kinda think it depends which part of your brain has the dopamine shortage determines the symptoms
Definitely let us know if the ADHD meds have an effect on the fibromyalgia very interested 2 know

I don't know about the medication and fibro situation so can't help, but...
I was referred in November by my GP to psychiatry-UK, as we have no local services in my county, and have an assessment/initial appointment on 5th January!! Couldn't believe it was so quick as others have said they had to wait a year or more for assessment!!
Hope you get support soon 😊

First of all you must go for proper checkup from doctor. It will help to diagnose your health condition. If Fibromyalgia is diagnosed then take proper treatment and also follow Fibromyalgia management to reduce pain and get faster recovery.
