I don’t remember having a blood test when I got diagnosed for ADHD so does that mean my diagnosis is invalid?
I’ve had several blood tests since due 2 my dodgy digestive system
Thought I might have a thyroid problem but that came back clear
Then they thought I might have Addison’s disease even though I said I didn’t have most of the symptoms I think I came back clear 4 that
Think I’ve actually got reactive hypoglycaemia and dumping syndrome and hypoglycaemia caused by not getting enough nutrients due to dumping syndrome
Although I have no idea why I’d have dumping syndrome coz it’s usually caused by a surgical procedure involving the stomach and I haven’t had that
My psychiatrist sent my ADHD report 2 my doctors wouldn’t they say hang on you haven’t ruled out XY and Z?
Is it worth me asking my doctor? Bearing in mind that he thought ADHD was a childhood condition that doesn’t effect adults
Saying all that my memory is not that fantastic I got in trouble last week coz I was adamant that I hadn’t done something turns out I definitely did with video footage to boot. Doh!!!
Still I’m pretty sure I’d never had a blood test ever til just before the whole COVID thing and I hate needles so I’m sure I’d remember

from what i recall, the blood tests were more to do with medication that can be prescribed rather than the actual diagnosis itself. i had to have bloods and ecg which i assumed was because of the effect stimulants can have on the body

ADHD cannot be diagnosed via a blood test as far as I am aware.
Hope this helps.

I know it can’t be diagnosed by a blood test but I thought they had to rule out other causes for our symptoms
Such as thyroid problems that can diagnosed by a blood test
I’m thinking maybe because my old school reports, school friends and family showed that the symptoms were present from childhood maybe it wasn’t required?
So didn’t anyone else have a blood test pre diagnosis?

How did you land on reactive hypoglycemia?
Coincidentally, my own googling once lead me to believe one of my 'subclinical' conditions was either hyperinsulinemia or neuroglycopenia.
Can't really remember why now but no doubt I was convinced at the time.
With regard to blood tests at point of diagnosis, no. If anyone was this thorough, we'd all be diagnosed as kids.
Various blood tests years prior as I slowly ruled things out, forgot about it, life in ruins again, back to ruling things out... ADHD.

Reactive hypoglycaemia because when I drink a can of anything diet I sweat pours off me I start shaking and I go dizzy and can end up falling asleep
I have to eat a tonne of sugar followed by something more substantial to come round
I thought maybe I was allergic to sweeteners but I’ve eaten things with sweeteners in and been ok
So I think what happens is my body sees the can of pop thinks woohoo sugar on it’s way get the insulin out
Then the sugar doesn’t come but the insulin is out and takes any bit of sugar it can find in my blood thus causing low blood sugar
It’s like pavlovs dogs where he trained them to salivate at the sound of a bell
They’d here the bell and their bodies get ready to eat even if no food actually arrived because they’d learnt to associate the bell with food
My whole digestive system is just dysfunctional
I know I really shouldn’t diagnose myself but I know if I drink a can of Diet Coke I’ll be poorly and also if I eat something sugary for breakfast or on an empty stomach I’ll be poorly
So I don’t do that in the mean time the doctors test me for random stuff that doesn’t match my symptoms and I’m really confused why
I’m not usually a hypochondriac only because I hate doctors and needles and waiting rooms and I really don’t want a camera shoved up or down any orifice
Oh I really hate doctors think they must speak a different language to me and on the very few times I go see them I think they just punish me by sending me for needless blood tests for random stuff so I won’t ever bother them again
Or they’ll tell me my condition is a childhood disorder and doesn’t affect adults
Who the frig sent me off on a rant? I’m stopping right now

The sad thing is that even if you're right, you may fall with the tolerance levels so you'll be deemed subclinical (by a receptionist who's scribbled the upper and lower values on a post-it) and told to fuck off
