Hi everyone. I've just registered to these forums, and I don't really think I have ADHD but I had no better idea than post here because I seriously do feel like I have ADHD with my concentration issues even though I didn't before. I didn't until about 4 years ago (I am 38). Since then I got emotional dysregulation problems and attention issues. It feels like having to relearn everything from scratch with how to do tasks requiring mental effort, planning, time management and all that. I have no idea what condition I have but I'm slowly relearning but it's hard without help and I'm looking for tips for that. I'd have a couple of questions too.
Do you find the task just makes your brain melt initially?
Do you find the task requires too much mental effort or pain initially, but you are fine later after trying to work on it for a while? If so, what tricks, strategies do you have for overcoming this more easily?
Like, do you ever feel like that you have to "jump too high" to be able to do the mental effort? If so, what tricks, strategies work for this?
Do you find you are unable to break down the task into smaller parts (because brain melt or just plain block)? Or that you have to break it down into ridiculously small parts? Which you can't do because you have no idea what those ridiculously small parts/steps would be? Again, tricks, strategies?
I can't think of more questions right now.
I have problems with all that, though it's got a bit better but progress is very slow without help.
Thanks a lot for any input! If you think this doesn't sound anything similar to ADHD symptoms, then I'm interested in where to look instead. Like I haven't found any forums or resources for tips to help with such concentration issues but I'd be interested.
