Hi folks. I have not been diagnosed with ADHD yet as the waiting list for assessment in my area is over 3 years, but I am fairly confident that I have it.
My question is about parenting and sensory overload. I am mum to a 16 month old, and like most toddlers he is LOUD. I frequently find that I am going into sensory overload and getting really upset when he is crying or whining. This is really affecting not just my mental health but also our relationship. My partner is sympathetic and helps as much as he can but I really need to find a way to deal with this myself. I cannot seem to find anything helpful online and I feel very alone when talking to other mums.

Hi Clar, I’ve just ordered some of these www.flareaudio.com/collections/calmer a kind of earplug that filters sounds. there supposed to be good for people with sensory processing issues. I really struggle with noise when I have pre-menstrual sky high anxiety, so fingers crossed for that. I read a review by a grandma who said she can now happily sit in the car with her granddaughter singing at the top of her high pitched voice. So sounds like could be perfect for you with a toddler. I’ll let everyone know how I get on with them.
